Molly Treadwell, 91, of Hanford, CA passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018.
Molly was born April 26, 1926 in Snowball, Arkansas to Otis and Bertha Owens. She was the oldest child of 5 siblings. She graduated from Snowball High School. She married Jake Treadwell in 1945 and gave birth to her first son, Danny, in August 1946. They moved to Hanford, CA in 1947 to work and raise their family. Molly gave birth to her second son, Terry, in June 1950.
Molly was a proud mother and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and made many of her family’s clothes. She was known for her quilts and embroidery designs. Her quilts were not only beautiful but kept you warm during the winter. Her creative embroidery added a personal touch to clothes and linens.
Molly also knew her way around the kitchen. Meals were simple but delicious. Her southern dishes, especially her desserts, were admired by family and friends. Her pecan and chocolate pies would make anyone’s mouth water.
In addition to taking care of the home and raising two children, Molly worked seasonally on farms in Kings County. She mostly worked with cotton and walnut crops. Even though it was tedious and tiring, she took satisfaction in her work on the sorting line and in the field.
Molly enjoyed listening to music. Before television, Molly and her family gathered around the radio and listened to old-time country music programs like the Grande Ole Opry. Occasionally, she would entertain her family by singing her favorite songs.
Molly also enjoyed nurturing children long after raising her own sons. Her caring nature made her the perfect person to help babysit and comfort children at church. Her love and wisdom touched her family and friends.
Molly is survived by her sons, Danny Treadwell & spouse Brenda of Clovis; Terry Treadwell of Hanford; grandson, Brian Treadwell of Clovis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Treadwell; parents, Otis and Bertha Owens; sisters: Grace, Elsie, and Winona; and brother, Ben.
Molly’s family would like to thank her doctors and the staff at the Hacienda Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for their loving care and support.
Graveside Services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery; 19811 S. Cedar Ave, Laton, California on Wednesday, March 14th at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements: People’s Funeral Chapel.
