Norma Lorraine Anthony, 88, born in Mendota, California, on September 25, 1932, passed away in her home in Hanford, California, on February 12, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herschel Lankford White and Grace Lorraine White, her sisters, Naomi Gene White and Janice Maxine White, and her brothers Herschel Francis White, Gerald Ensley White, and Richard Lankford White. She was also preceded by her husbands, Ben Lowell Yager (married 1948, until his death in 1954), and Glen Edward Anthony (married 1963, until his death in 2014).
Norma was a professional seamstress for many years, providing bridesmaid and prom dresses for the ladies of Hanford. She was a talented cook and baker, her pies being one of her specialties. She loved to quilt, crochet, and listen to Country Music; She was Country before Country was cool. Norma spent her Golden Years traveling the country with her husband, Glen, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was quite a character even in her final days.
Norma is survived by her sister, Pat (George) Holmes, of Des Moines, Iowa, her seven children, Laura Yager, Glen (Anita) Yager, Glen Paul (Kathy) Anthony, David (Janice) Anthony, John Anthony, Jo Ann (Bob) Grunwald, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her stepson Larry Applegate preceded her in death.
She will be laid to rest at Kings River Hardwick Cemetery, on Friday, February 26th, at 1:00pm. Due to Covid restrictions, there will be a private graveside service, only.
