A viewing for Mr. Massey will be held Monday, April 12th at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 637 Sunset St. Coalinga, Ca. at 9:00 a.m., mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Coalinga. After burial, a wake will be held at the Elks Lodge, 200 Cambridge Ave., Coalinga. Pallbearers will be Everett Millette, Darrel Clark, Jim Gill, Jose Vargas, Charlie Loveall and George Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Massey, Kenny Massey, John Massey, Joe Bunk, Albert Palagruto, Robert Miley, Kenny “Mikey” Massey, Joey Winiarski, Aaron Winiarski and Tom Jones. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Rao and the staff at C Care for their care and support throughout the years.
Born in Chester, Pa., December 15th 1941 to James T. and Catherine Massey. He was twelfth of fifteen children. Paul was a graduate of Chester High School where he played football, tinkered with cars and hunted with his brothers in his spare time. After high school, he went on to work at Sunoco where his father had worked and two brothers were working. He later owned a seafood restaurant in Delaware and discovered his lifelong love of cooking. Moving west in his thirties, he worked constructing homes, mobile homes, shopping centers and commercial buildings in Arizona and California. Later in life, he chose to use his building talents in the prison system by teaching inmates the skills necessary to build, remodel and maintain prison systems and structures.
In retirement, he enjoyed ranching and all the chores and activities associated with cattle, chickens, dogs, cats, pigs, ducks, rabbits and geese. His dog Brutus was his constant companion and the two of them would bring joy to friends all over town.
Paul is proceeded in death by his parents James and Catherine, his siblings Jim, James, John, Grace, Joseph, Kathleen, Mary Aileene, Thomas, Alice, Elaine, Francis, Marjorie and Ruth Ann
He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years Bonnie, his sister Delores, children Brian, Paul and Kendra, step children Jennifer and Kenny, his daughter in his heart Christine Adams, canine son Brutus and seven grandchildren.
