Raymond Anthony Forte

October 2, 1962January 5, 2021

Raymond Anthony Forte passed away at the age of 58 on January 5, 2021 in Merced, CA. He was born to John J. and LaVerne Forte on October 2, 1962 in Los Banos, CA. Ray grew up in Los Banos and graduated from Los Banos High School in 1981. Ray devoted over 30 years working for Turner Island Water District on the Wolfsen Ranches out of Los Banos, CA.

Ray was a quiet, reserved man by nature. He enjoyed the solitude and focus of hunting, usually joined by his sons and friends. He preferred hunting deer and geese, though if he came across the path of a coyote he would track him down, too.

When on the softball field, though, Ray was competitive. He always wore his baseball pants, baseball cap and cleats and was ready to win. He snagged liners down the third base line and coached bases like he was playing in the World Series. He played league in Los Banos, Dos Palos, Merced, Atwater and tournaments throughout California. He loved being on the field.

Ray found peace on his Harley. He enjoyed cruising with his riding friends, many of whom became like family.

Ray was a pillar for everyone in his life. He was reliable, dependable and consistent in his love, support and presence. He was a man of little words, though his expression said a lot. When he did speak, his words meant something.

Ray is survived by his wife Debbie Forte. Sons Christopher and Cody (Veronica). Step-children Danica, Elias (Alyssa) and Samuel. Grandchildren Zoey and Xander, Mariana and Colin, and Kaylee. Mother LaVerne Forte. Siblings David (Leah) Forte, Dan (Sandra) Forte and Yvette (Philip) Rosedale. Nieces and nephews Elizabeth Forte, Kristen (Chris) Perkins, Amanda (Anthony) Mercer; Daniel (Kara) Forte and Marc Forte; and August, Cecilia, Orion and Capri Rosedale.

He is preceded in death by his father John J. Forte.

A Funeral Mass for Raymond will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 1621 Center Avenue, Los Banos, California with the Committal Service to follow at the Los Banos Cemetery.

I met Ray through my good friend Debbie! He was such a nice man and I was so happy when Debbie and Ray were engaged and later married. Ray was quiet but very kind and always thought of others. We will miss you Ray.

R.I.P Raymond. Spread your wings and fly with the angels. My boys Dustin and Mo loved you so much. You were a big part of their lives growing up and because of that you helped mold both my sons into the great men they grew up to be. They both adored you and talked of you often about bypass fishing or hunting ducks or telephone conversations about hunting trips and of course motorcycles. . You were a great impact on them you more than their uncle Raymond Forte ,you were their hero . They both respected and loved you so much.

His Dad and I called him Raym. He was the middle son of our four children. He was such a cute, rolly-polly little boy who loved getting into mischief with his two brothers and spoiling his baby sister. He played baseball all through his adolescence and went on to softball as an adult until Covid put his league on hold. Raym got his talent as a third baseman from his Dad who was so proud he chose the same position he played into his adult years. I hope they are putting a great team together with the friends who have gone before them. I love you my son and know you are with your Dad now forever.

Big Pirates and Dolphins fan. Ray loved being on the softball field. Best manager I ever had and also the loudest Lol. I played left field and Ray was a heck of a third baseman. He knew how to put a team together. Ray was a great man and friend. David Silva.
