Robert Earl Dutcher II

Robert Earl Dutcher, age 71. Born in Rome, New York, United States, on September 9, 1947 – and passed on January 9, 2019 in Hanford, California.
Robert E. Dutcher served in the United States Navy for 24 years. During his service he was stationed in many places and also on many ships. One being the USS Manley DD-940 in 1966 where he spent some time in Vietnam. He got out of the Navy in March 1968 but did go back in March 1970 as a K9 Handler. October of that year he went back to Vietnam and was stationed with the 82nd corp 62nd transport division. From there his exciting career took him to the Subic Bay in the Philippines where he was in charge of the K9 Division from 1971-1972. In September 1972 he got orders to the USS Ashtabula AO-51 out of Long Beach, California. In 1982 he made Chief Petty Officer and got orders to the Naval Training Center in San Diego as Company Commander. He pushed through 2 companies of 320 men and was selected the E8. Prior to the three years having the hat on as a Chief he also was selected out of 120 Chiefs to be the Company Commander for the Olympic Company being sponsored by the Olympic Committee in 1984 first and only one of its kind. He graduated from that Company with Honors. He made Senior Chief Boatswain mate in 1984. Then in 1985 he got transferred to the USS Thach FF-43 out of San Diego California. 14 months out of the time served on the USS Thach he was Command Senior Chief. He retired off the Thach in April 1988 as Senior Chief Boatswain Mate.
Robert is survived by his wife Perla M. Dutcher, his son Chad Dutcher, his daughter Regina Delles and his brother Paul Dutcher.
On behalf of his son, he wants to thank anyone that interacted with him, Robert “Boats” Dutcher enjoyed talking to every person he spoke to, as well tried to make laugh, joke, or tell stories. And to any & all who are around or passed, that wear a uniform, thank you for all that you do.
