Sandra was born to Everett and Berneice Stuhaan on the 6th day of March, 1948 and their green-eyed baby girl became the center of their world and the joy of their lives.
Sandra grew up on the Stuhaan family farm and was full of energy. She enjoyed raising 4-H animals and some would say also enjoyed raising a little hell. Sandra loved nature and all of God’s creatures. She was a natural caretaker and was known to rescue a furry or feathered friend.
Sandra attended Delta View Elementary School and graduated with the Hanford High class of 1966. She married her High School sweetheart, Pat Morris and together they had two daughters, Tamara Michelle (Tim Sanchez) and Rhonda Renee (Geoff Gates). Sandra and her girls experienced lots of adventure over the years. The girls have great memories of their trips to the beach, long lunches in the garden and popcorn filled movie nights with their Mom.
Sandra was full of life and so much fun. Her sparkling eyes and smile would light up any room and everyone loved her giggle. She would often captivate an audience as she told stories about her younger years. Most of the stories would make you blush and all of them left you wanting to hear more.
Sandra had so many creative talents and could make something so simple into something so beautiful. Her home and garden reflected Sandra’s distinct style and her unique handwriting and thoughtful notes were welcomed and treasured by so many.
On the 21st day of October 1990, Sandra married her soul mate and the love of her life, Ernest Bowden Kerr. Ernie and Sandra shared 32 years of marriage and their love of the Delta View community history. They made their home on the Stuhaan family farm, where they made each other laugh and held each other’s hand until Sandra’s last day.
Over the years, Sandra and her family made many wonderful memories surrounded by “Papa’s Orchard.” Often Superior Dairy Ice Cream was enjoyed in the Secret Gardens Sandra carefully designed with the help of her grandchildren, Dustin Drennen, Cannon Sanchez, Brayden Sanchez (Madison), Stetson Gates and Jagger Gates. Her grandboys lovingly referred to her as “Nene” and they always looked forward to the fun activities she had planned for them. Nene was blessed to become a Great-Grandmother on the 15th day of July, 2022 and we will forever cherish the moment she held Baylor Joseph Sanchez.
Sandra’s bright light will live on in the hearts of us all. May her one of a kind, very special spirit be remembered on the wings of hummingbirds and in the beautiful gardens she loved.
Sandra will be honored in a private service and remembrances are welcomed at the Children’s Storybook Garden (175 East 10th Street Hanford, CA 93230).
