Sharon Lorraine (Alcorn) Oliver

March 20, 1954 – May 6, 2022
Obituary of Sharon Lorraine (Alcorn) Oliver
IN THE CARE OF

People’s Funeral Chapel

Sharon Lorraine (Alcorn) Oliver went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2022. Sharon, who was 68 years old, was born on March 20, 1954 to John and Marian Lorraine Alcorn in Hanford, California. She passed away unexpectedly from complications of the flu at the Hanford Adventist Health Hospital.

Sharon was the oldest of six siblings. At a young age, she became an active member of 4-H where she showed sheep and pigs and learned to cook and sew. Sharon joined Hanford Future Farmers of America and had a breeding project in which she raised over 100 Duroc pigs. She was proud to have been among the first group of females to receive her FFA State Farmer Degree. Sharon was active in the agriculture community and served as the 1971-72 Kings County Dairy Princess.

After graduating from high school, Sharon attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She got married and made her home in Southern California where she became a member of the Newbury Park First Christian Church. She enjoyed hosting bible study sessions and the holiday boutique in her home, as well as helping out whenever she could at the church, including helping to run Vacation Bible School. She was an avid crafter at the time and mastered woodworking, tole painting and stenciling. When her daughter, Heather, was born Sharon took pride in helping out as a class mom, and getting Heather involved with youth activities at the church, swimming and horseback riding lessons, as well volunteering to help with her softball and volleyball teams.

Sharon later returned to Hanford where she dabbled in various careers, such as, being a flight attendant, an agriculture enumerator, and legal secretary. During that time she earned her AA degree in Psychology from the College Of Sequoias. The profession in which she found the most enjoyment was as the business owner of Vic’s Place Bar and Grill, where her customers became her extended family.

Sharon is survived by her parents, John and Marian Lorraine Alcorn, daughter, Heather (Jeremey) Redding, grandchildren, Bennett and Lillith, siblings, Jonell (Patrick) Freitas, Marian Luis, Carleen (Phillip) Nunes, Pamela (Marten) Verhoeven, and John (Melissa) Alcorn, sixteen nieces and nephews, and seventeen grand nieces and nephews, all of which she dearly loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hanford First Christian Church, on June 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a time to visit immediately following the service in the church reception hall.

Her Vic’s Place family would also like to invite you to a gathering at the Menenz home at 20270 South Clovis Avenue in Laton. In true Vic’s Place fashion, you are welcome to bring food or drink and your precious stories and memories to share. Sharon was special to so many.
