As a young boy Tom enjoyed going to the store for his dad and helped him in any way he could. Growing up, Tom enjoyed hanging out with his brothers, always looking to have a good time. Tom grew up with his nephews, Jackie, Lalo, and Joey and niece, Connie. As the years went on their bond would strengthen.
At the age of 24, Tom would marry the love of his life, Mandy. Together, they went on to have 5 children: Andrea, Thomas, Elaine, Anthony, & Katrina.
A longtime resident of Corcoran and Hanford, Tom made a career in the automotive and agricultural industries. Starting off as a mechanic at a dealership, then as a foreman at Yocum III Ranch, and later John Hamar Farms.
Tom was a hard worker, always providing for his family. No matter the cost. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed barbecues with family, friends, and coworkers, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.
In 2000, Mandy fell ill, and Tom was relentlessly by her side every day. Even after a long day's work he would spend his evenings sitting by her, holding her hand, watching Bonanza with her until her passing in June of that year.
After an early retirement due to a work injury, Tom kept busy repairing small appliances and fixing cars. He enjoyed making his grandkids gifts from his garage. Be it woodworking or metalworking, Tom made a variety of crafts for his kids and grandkids. Tom held many titles, but his favorite was "Dad" and "Grandpa". He loved nothing more than seeing the legacies he and Mandy created.
Throughout his years, Tom loved listening to all genres of music from Oldies to Country, to Spanish. Whether he was cooking, cleaning, working in his garage, or driving around, Tom was always listening to music; even making playlists for his family. Tom was a wonderful cook, he loved cooking. His favorites were menudo and tamales. He, and others, would look forward to those times of year when we would all gather to make and enjoy his food. All the while, listening to stories of past days and memories of the blue house.
All along the way, Tom had a special love for his dogs. Especially his Dalmatian, Daisy. She left a lasting imprint on his heart.
Tom had a special relationship with his niece, Anna Keener and her family. Always there to visit their "Nino", who they adored. He was always there to offer his support and encouragement.
Tom was always there to give his time, love, and affection to his family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Hortencia, his brothers Alfonso, Robert, and Julio, his wife Mandy, his son Raymond, & his grandson Gannon. Tom is survived by his children, Tom Coronado, Andrea King, Thomas Chavarria, Elaine Angel, Anthony Chavarria (Salina), Katrina Chavarria, grandkids Elizabeth & Anthony Martinez, Bobby Rainwater Jr., Bryston Deniz, Zachary, Alexa & Bella Chavarria, Elias & Aidan Angel, Mathew, Vivian, Brandon, & Wyatt Chavarria, AJ Valdez, Beebe & Maggie Aguilar, Kyle Hensley (Tabitha), Great-Grandkids, Anthony Enrique, Mila, & Astramaya Martinez, his brother James Chavarria and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, son-in-law, dad, grandpa, and friend. He was the patriarch of our family, and he will be deeply and thoroughly missed. May his legacy of strength, perseverance, and love live on for all time.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the ICU staff at Adventist Hospital.
