

Mrs. Alice C. Corrigan Maher, 86 of Abington, formerly of Canton died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell after a long illness. The daughter of the late John and Mary Flynn Corrigan, she was born in Boston on November 28, 1922. A graduate of Boston University, Mrs. Maher was the Special Assistant to Edwin H. Land, founder of the Polaroid Corporation. She loved gardening, arts, crafts and was a member of the Ladies Sodality. Wife of the late John R. Maher Jr., she is survived by 4 children, Maureen A. Ladd of Rockland, John J. Maher and his wife, Abbi of Brookline, Patricia A. Bowker and her husband, Thomas of Abington and Kathleen M. Werkowski and her husband, David of Stoughton. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Cecilia Adams. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water Street in ROCKLAND on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Funeral mass on Wednesday at 9 AM in St. Bridget Church, 455 Plymouth St., Rte 58 in Abington. Interment in Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury. Memorial donations in Alice's name may be made to Beacon Hospice, 32 Resnick Rd, Suite 3, Plymouth MA 02360.
