On January 31st, Amy B. Webb, 64, of Norwell, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family after a long, courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Amy owned and operated Webb’s Pro Fitness, a family health club in Norwell, for 42 years. She will always be remembered with a smile on her face, even on the most difficult days. She believed in putting others first and always making someone’s day brighter. She had a motto, “Walk On”, that embodied her power to persevere which began at the age of 24 when she suffered a brain aneurysm. Doctors told her she may never walk again, but she proved them incredibly wrong. In 1988, Amy’s story was featured on the cover of Walking Magazine.
Amy met her husband Greg while he was building Webb’s Pro Fitness when she came to ask for a job, which inevitably shaped the rest of her life. Amy taught iconic work out classes where she shared inspiration in fitness and in life, all-while building a community. She was recognized as one of the nation’s top Wateraerobics Instructors during her career. She made a point to learn each member’s name and introduce them to each other. Amy cherished her friendships with many employees and members.
Amy loved to ski, walk 5 miles a day, take trips on the boat, and enjoy family vacations. Above all, Amy’s happiest place was anywhere with her family. She loved her weekends in Maine where she shared many close friendships. Her favorite places to walk were her street, First Cliff in Scituate (where she and Greg first lived), and Quonochontaug, RI when visiting her grandparents’ summer cottage.
Amy grew up in Weymouth, MA and graduated from Weymouth South High School in 1977, where she was a cheerleader and class officer. Amy graduated from the University of New Hampshire, class of 1981 and received a master’s degree in business administration from Lesley University. During her time at UNH, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and made lifelong friendships with her college roommates. After college, she went on to work as production assistant on WCVB Channel 5’s “Healthbeat”. Shortly thereafter she shifted her career to focus solely on Webb’s Pro Fitness. Amy spent the rest of her life making a mark in the South Shore community. She was also active at South Shore Bank as a Corporator and Trustee on their board and volunteered at the Norwell Cancer Community Center teaching yoga classes. As a member of the United Church of Christ in Norwell, Amy enjoyed teaching Sunday School while her children were growing up.
Amy felt blessed to have gotten to see her youngest daughter, Gretchen, get married in Amy & Greg’s home days before she passed away.
Mentally and spiritually, Amy fought until the very end. We may never know anyone as strong and as positive as Amy Webb, but if all who knew her could take on a little piece of that positivity in her remembrance, we could make this world and our community a happier place.
Amy was the beloved wife of Gregory Webb for 34 years. She was the loving and devoted mother to her three children, Heather (Pembroke), Curtis (Norwell) and Gretchen (Marshfield) and their spouses, Alex Quintal, Darci Webb and Michael Enos. Amy leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Lilah & Leo Quintal. She is also survived by her loving father, James Bristol, Jr of Weymouth and siblings Mary Jo Gregg and husband Brad of Durham, NH, Janet Bristol and partner Frank Snow of Scituate, James Bristol III and partner Beth Durant of Weymouth, and David Bristol and wife Joanie of Hanover. She also leaves behind Greg’s three siblings and their spouses and many loved nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Amy joins in heaven her mother, Mary Bates Bristol and nephew, Ryan O’Connor.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in Hanover on Thursday, February 8th from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, February 9th at 11 AM at the United Church of Christ, 460 Main St, Rt 123 in Norwell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her children’s Pan Mass Challenge team, “Walk On” where all donations go to Dr. Laubach’s Research Fund for Multiple Myeloma & other hematologic malignancies. The family is incredibly grateful for Dr. Laubach and his team for their dedication to Amy’s health over the last 12 years. https://profile.pmc.org/TW0225
