
Andrew F. Callahan, 52, of Rockland died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. The son of Nancy A. Edwards Callahan of Rockland and the late Andrew F. Callahan Sr, he was born in Worcester on December 1, 1951. Andrew was raised and educated in Rockland. He was a graduate of Rockland High School and Bridgewater State College. Andrew was an accomplished artist. He was employed as an artist at Fun Enterprises in South Weymouth. In 1982 he was voted, New England cartoonist of the year for weekly newspapers. His incredible artistic ability and works of art have graced theaters, museums, libraries and homes of thousands world-wide. An accurate depiction of Andrew would be that he was a modern day Renaissance man. He sang in the Boston Opera Choir. He was a gourmet cook. His paintings, set designs, singing, acting and love of the theater were all great joys in Andrew's life. Andrew's incredible intelligence came from his vast readings and studies of the museums and theaters of the world. He is survived by his mother, Nancy A. Edwards Callahan of Rockland, 5 brothers, Michael Callahan and his wife Nancy of Dighton, Kevin Callahan and his wife Patricia of Easton, Patrick Callahan of Rockland, Terrence Callahan and his wife Carole of Weymouth and Barry Callahan of Rockland, 3 nieces, Erin, Katie and Chrissy, 7 nephews, Michael, Sean, Brian, Patrick, Timothy, Thomas and James. Also survived by many other family members and friends. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at 11 AM in Holy Family Church 403 Union Street in Rockland. Internment in Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 41-45 East Water Street in Rockland on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Andrew's name may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut Street, Brockton MA 02301.
