Barbara L. Almy

Barbara Hofstra Almy, 87 died June 12, 2012 at the Jordan Hospital. She was the wife of the late Harold E. Almy, daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Ericson Hofstra, born February 22, 1925 in Uxbridge, MA. Barbara was the sister of the late Joan Hofstra Antonino. She is survived by her son, Mark E. Almy and his wife Wendy of Halifax, her daughters Debra McLean and her husband Curt of Halifax, Karin Heywood of Hanover and Jane Almy of RI and her grandchildren; Elizabeth Almy of Quincy, John Almy of Halifax, Adam and Seth McLean of Halifax, Sarah and Stephen Parks of Bellingham, Dr. Emily Miller and Dr. Seth Berman of Cambridge and Andrew Braun of Hanover. Barbara is also survived by her nephews Charles and Leo Antonino and her niece Elizabeth Antonino. She also leaves many dear friends. Barbara graduated Burrillville High School, Class of 1942, MGH School of Nursing, Class of 1947, served in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps from 1944-1947 at Mass General Hospital and retired from South Shore Hospital Nursing Administration in 1987. Barbara loved her career, her husband and her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, knitting, braiding rugs and decorating her home. Services were private.
