

Barbara M. (Vradenburgh) Ferguson, 84 of Hingham, formerly of Hanson, died January 26, 2021 from complications of Covid-19. Daughter of the late Franklin G. Vradenburgh and Evelyn (Marston) Vradenburgh, she was born on September 26, 1936, in Medford, MA. She was a 1954 graduate of Medford High School and Boston University where she received the degree of B.S. from the School of Management in 1958. After teaching school in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she married Donald F. Ferguson in 1959 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage, raising five sons. For 29 years she was the news and advertising correspondent for the town of Hanson for the Brockton Enterprise. For 14 years she worked for the Town of Hanson as administrative assistant to the Recreation Commission, the Board of Appeals, and the Planning Board. At the time of her death, she was an appointed member of the Board of Registrars. She served for five years as the union steward for the Administrative Professionals Union and represented the Union at state and international conventions of the American Federation of State and Municipal Employees. She was also a long time member of the Hanson Democratic Town Committee and served as an elected delegate to many state conventions.
She is survived by her five sons: Donald Ferguson (and Regina Brown) of South Salem, NY, Robert Ferguson (and Kelcey Buck) of Newburyport, Michael Ferguson (and Cynthia) of Concord, NH, Roderick Ferguson (and Holly) of Hanover, and Thomas Ferguson (and Shannon Kelly) of Sandwich; 8 grandchildren: Alec, Chuck, Margaret, Kay, Kye, Evelyn, Catherine and Malcolm; 1 sister-in-law, Lauren Frame of Braintree; daughter-in-law Kimberly Ferguson of Yorktown Heights, NY; cousins Linda Hennessy of Laconia, NH; Toni Hennessy of Windsor, VT; Jacqueline Baker (and Eric) of Tamworth, NH; and Maureen Beane (and Glenn) of Hanover, NH; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and beloved and supportive friend to so, so many.
Burial will be private, with a memorial service to be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loon Preservation Committee of New Hampshire (https://loon.org/donate/).
