Bonnie A. Burke

1942-2024

Bonnie Burke, 82, a long-time resident of Rockland and Sandwich passed away on June 6, 2024 after a brief illness. Bonnie was born at the Chelsea Navy Hospital and was a self-described Navy brat. 

A graduate of Grafton High School, Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, and Emmanuel College, Bonnie had a long career as a registered nurse and nursing home administrator. 

In later years, Bonnie spent the winters among friends at Japanese Gardens in Venice Florida, where Bonnie enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Women’s Club. 

Bonnie was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Bill. Bonnie is survived by her brother Hugh F. Donnelly and his wife Pat of Rockland; her daughter Beth Lemire and her husband Tom of Acton; her son Bill and his wife Karen of Centerville; her grandchildren Brendan Lemire, Sarah Lemire, Colin Lemire, Greg Lemire, Shayne Burke, and Kara Burke. 

Bonnie’s greatest joy was spending time with her six grandchildren. She loved to cook for them, garden with them, play board games with them, sometimes even letting them win. Bonnie was an avid quilter and made many quilts for her grandchildren. 

Visiting hours will be held at Sullivan Funeral Homes, 45 East Water Street, Rockland on Sunday, June 16th, from 2-5 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland, on Monday June 17th at 9:00 AM, followed by burial at Holy Family Cemetery, 92 Centre Avenue, Rockland.
