

Brian J. Murphy, 51, of Hanson, passed away on August 17, 2019 after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Michelle (Thayer) Murphy and was the beloved father of Terrence Thayer, Devon and Logan Murphy all of Hanson and Brenton Murphy of Fairhaven. Proud grandfather of Travis and Kallie Thayer. Dear brother of Paula Linhares and husband Peter of Bridgewater, Ann Henderson and husband John of Plymouth, Sean Murphy of Mrytle Beach, SC and Irene Sullivan and husband David of Granby and the late Robert Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Brian was born June 4, 1968 to John Murphy and Margaret (O' Connell) Murphy. He was raised in Braintree, graduating from Braintree High School in 1986. Shortly after graduating, he met his wife, Michelle. He worked as the superintendent of the Mercantile Wharf building in Boston for 20 years, living with Michelle and their children, Terrence and Brenton. They would move to Hanson in 1997 where they would settle down and have two more children, Devon and Logan. After retiring from work from disability, Brian was able to devote all his time to his family, including their family dog Joy. Brian had many passions, including astronomy and all things wildlife. He mostly loved birds, hanging bird feeders outside his window so he could watch them from his couch. Above all, he loved traveling with his wife and family, taking as many opportunities as he could to travel and explore.
Visitation in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St., Corner of Rt. 14 & 58, Hanson on Thursday, August 22nd, from 4pm to 6:30pm with a funeral home service to follow at 6:30pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or Childrens Hospital Boston, Ma.
