She was born in Cambridge MA on April 4, 1941 to Hugh R. and Clara M. (Cormier) Farrington. She had two younger brothers to share her life with. The family spent many summers on Cape Cod where her parents eventually retired and she continued to enjoy spending time. In 1959, Gay graduated from Arlington High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery AL as well as Hickox Secretarial School in Boston. Through her church she met and married Bill Pollock.
Gay’s profession and passion was in childcare. The families that she had in her care were like her own family, forming lifelong relationships and bonds. She also paired her love for people with her love of photography. Carolyn, as she was also known, created stunning photos of high school seniors, portraits of children and families as well as events such as weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs.
Carolyn Gay lived most of her life in Weymouth and enjoyed travel to see family and friends. Always a bright spirit, she was a devoted friend, loving daughter, sister, cousin and auntie. She will be remembered in all the children she ushered into adulthood with love and respect, by her friends who were the recipients of loyalty and care and by her family who knew and received her devotion and love. She will be missed and forever in our hearts and in our souls.
Carolyn Gay is survived by her brothers Hugh "Tim" Farrington (Sara), Fred Farrington, by Rita DeRozzo, Deborah Farrington, by her nieces Krissy (Jim) Swensen and Kaela Farrington (Patrick Lehr) and by numerous cousins and extended family. She was predeceased by her niece Mika Farrington (Dave Higgs, daughters, Vivian and Daphne).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. She will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dennis, MA.
