Mr. Charles A. Sweeney, 78 of Venice FL formerly of Mashpee and Rockland died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Venice Memorial Hospital in Florida. The son of the late William and Julia O'Grady Sweeney, he was born in Norwood on December 5, 1931. Mr. Sweeney served in the Navy during the Korean War and was later employed as a Postal Worker. He enjoyed golf, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. Husband of the late Margaret A. Powers Sweeney, he is survived by his son Larry Sweeney and his wife Michelle of Marshfield, 2 granddaughters Elisabeth and Kelsey, his dear friend Carol Berube. Mr. Sweeney was 1 of 11 brothers and sisters. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Monday from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte 139 in Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St, West Bridgewater MA 02379.
