

Colleen S. Bruce of Salem, passed away on May 13, 2013 at the age of 60 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved daughter of Josephine M. Bruce of Mattapoisett and the late Edward F. Frank Bruce. Colleen graduated from Melrose High School and the University of Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Prior to retirement in 2011, Colleen had worked for the National Park Service for 31 years. She was instrumental in the construction and operation of Friendship of Salem. She had a passion for her work and was appointed the first Chief of the Marine Division of Salem Maritime National Historic Site. Colleen was a member of the Design Review Board of the City of Beverly and Historic Salem, Inc. She also was a talented artist and an adventurous traveler. Colleen leaves her devoted sisters Kathleen Bruce of Atlanta, GA; Patricia and brother in law John Morris of Hanover. Beloved Aunt of Kathryn and Daniel Joyce of Kingston, Stacey and Curtis Diedrich of Rockland and Colleen Morris of Quincy. Also lovingly survived by her great niece Anna Joyce and great nephews John Joyce, Alex Diedrich and Will Diedrich. She will be sadly missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Colleen was a compassionate owner to her beloved dogs Quan Yen, Sheba, Wolfie, Grace, Lily and Rosie. A gathering to celebrate Colleen's life will be held at a later date.
