Darryn G. Holbert

Darryn Gomes Holbert, 44, of Duxbury passed away suddenly at his home on July 26, 2021. Darryn was born on September 18, 1976 in Stoughton to Anna (Gomes) Holbert of Hanover and the late Richard I. Holbert Sr. of Pembroke. Darryn lived most of his life in Hanover, MA, and moved to Duxbury 3 years ago. He was the youngest and inarguably his mother’s favorite child, and Anna considered it an honor and pleasure to give him the extra care, attention, and love that he needed as a person with special needs. He was the loving brother of Richard I. Holbert Jr and his wife Kathleen of Plymouth, the late Michelle A. Holbert of Allston-Brighton, Dana J. Holbert and his wife Kimberley of Holbrook, Nicky K. (Holbert) Gordon and her husband Michael of Taunton, and Darryl Holbert and his partner Sandra Fenton of Brockton.

In addition to being the most wonderful brother and brother-in-law one could ever ask for, Darryn was a beloved uncle to Jessica M. Holbert of Providence R.I, Kassandra L. Holbert and Sabrina K. Holbert of Plymouth MA, Amanda L. Neenan of Beverly, Nichole K. Saylor of Randolph, Courtney E. Saylor of Brockton, Brandon J. Holbert of Holbrook, Carissa Fenton of Fall River, Corey Fenton of Dorchester, Cassie Fenton of Fall River as well as several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Darryn was a funny, caring, loving man who captured the heart of everyone he met, and he made many friends throughout his life.

He graduated from Cardinal Cushing School in 1998 and went on to attend a work program in Marshfield under the auspices of Road to Responsibility, Inc. Throughout his life, he participated in softball and bowling through the Special Olympics and proudly displayed his many medals, trophies, and plaques. Darryn had many passions in his life in addition to his love for his family – he loved WWF wrestling, camping, going out to eat, and tearing up the dance floor at every weddings and party he ever attended! Darryn will be dearly missed by all who had the fortune to be a part of his life.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Sullivan Funeral Home on 551 Washington Street, Hanover MA. Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Church Hill United Methodist Church on 11 Church Street in Norwell, MA.
