

David Michael Patterson, 57, of Marshfield, formerly of Scituate passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2020. David was born at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester and raised in the Sand Hills section of Scituate. He graduated in 1980 from Scituate High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. David was an exceptional athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball and football.
One of the highlights of his High School athletic career was competing in the 1979 High School Super Bowl game at Boston University’s Nickerson Field. David attended Florida Junior College and Winthrop College where he captained the baseball teams.
After college he moved back to Marshfield where he met the love of his life, Leah Calnan, with whom he spent the rest of his life. He never lost his love of sports and continued to play competitive baseball in several adult leagues.
David was adored by friends, teammates, and family. He was loyal and deeply passionate in his convictions. Animated and vicarious, he often found himself the center of attention. David worked for 20 years for Bissell Commercial Sales where he again made lasting friendships with colleagues. He would visit with them individually each Friday leading him to being dubbed the “Ambassador To The Weekend”.
David was predeceased by his father Charles Patterson. He is survived by his mother Elinor (White) Patterson, his brothers: Charles Patterson Jr. of Carver, Mark Patterson of Marshfield; and his sisters: Elizabeth Cusack of Brockton, Mary Patterson-Lund of Scituate, and Claire Carley of Kingston. David is also survived by his fiancé Leah Calnan and many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14th at 10 AM at St Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent St, Scituate. Followed by a gathering at St. Mary’s Parish Center. All are welcome.
