Diane McCarthy

Diane (Kelty) McCarthy, from Norwell, died peacefully on Friday, December 2nd, at the age of 79. She was the daughter of the late James Kelty and Ann Kelty of Milton, she leaves behind four children, Paul McCarthy of Boston, Kevin McCarthy of Norwell, Kristan Pendergast of Norwell and Erin McCarthy of Weymouth; and a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Pendergast and Carole McCarthy of Norwell. Diane is also survived by seven grandchildren, Samantha Riesen, Drew McCarthy, Kyle McCarthy, Jarrod McCarthy, Lily McCarthy, Jack Pendergast and Kevin Pendergast, and two great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Ann Carpenter of Alabama and Connie Tegan of Florida, the late Margaret McSweeney of New Jersey, Pat Warren of Cape Cod, Carol Ciliberti of Pennsylvania, and Brian Kelty of Marshfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Diane graduated from Archibishop Williams High School in 1955. She was a long time resident of Norwell and worked at the Norwell Town Hall for many years. Diane loved reading, wrote many published letters to the Patriot Ledger and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and especially enjoyed watching David Ortiz throughout his career. Friends and family will miss her sense of humor, spirited political discussions, and her kind personality.

Visitation in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in Hanover on Saturday from 2:00-5:00 pm. There will be a private mass before the visitation. The family would like to thank all of the compassionate and caring staff from Pratt 3 South of South Shore Hospital and the incredible staff at the Pat Roach Hospice Home.
