

Donald J. Cook February 18, 1933 - July 30, 2015 Donald "Don" J. Cook, 82 of Pembroke, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Born in Fall River on February 18, 1933 and raised in Somerset, he was the son of the late John D. Cook and Marguerite B. (O'Gara). Don was the devoted husband of Virginia L. (Vachon) Cook for over 56 years. Loving father of Thomas and his wife Kathryn of Moorestown, NJ, Patrice Cook of Middleborough and her significant other Terrance Maloney, and Janice Leonard and her husband Stuart of Pembroke. He was also a devoted grandfather to Timothy, Nicholas, Andrew and Caroline Cook of Moorestown, NJ and Kimberly and Eric Leonard of Pembroke. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was the dear brother of Barbara Garant and her late husband Al of Fall River, Penelope Fife and her husband Charles of Katy, Texas, Robert Cook and Eleanor of Swansea, Marilyn Joynt and her husband Gerald of Somerset, and brother-in-law Albert Vachon and Rita of Woburn. After attending the Diman Vocational School, Don attended the Rhode Island School of Design. He worked successfully as a Machine and Tool Designer at various manufacturing companies for over 40 years. Don proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the VFW Post - 6258. Don played the piano and enjoyed playing music with his family. One of his fondest memories was a talent show performance by the Cook Family Orchestra. Some of his favorite pastimes included bowling, playing pool, crossword puzzles and watching sports with family and friends. He also enjoyed inventing gadgets and woodworking. Over the years he constructed many furniture pieces along with a beautiful screen house. Visiting hours are at Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan St., Hanson, at the corner of Rte 14 and 58 on Sunday, August 2 from 2-5 PM. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM followed by Burial at the Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, MA.
