Dorothy "Dot" Woodward

Dorothy Agnes Woodward, 94 of Rockland, died Wednesday morning after a period of failing health, in the comfort of her own home. She was surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was born on June 22, 1924 to the late Peter and Dorothy Crowley. She was raised in Rockland and was a true Bulldog. She was married to the late Warren B. Woodward, Jr. for more than forty years. He shared her enthusiasm for their hometown of Rockland. Dot is survived by her sister Anne Batson of Rockland. She leaves her four children, Warren B. Woodward III and his wife Mary Ellen  of Rockland, Peter Woodward and his wife Stephany of Hanover, Kathleen Wells and her husband Timothy of Abington, and Mary Ann Serino of Rockland. Dot was a loving "Gram" to Scottie, Eric and Patrick Woodward, Christopher and Liz Woodward, and Timmy and Jenna Wells. Dot was also the proud great-grandmother of Sam and Charli Woodwood, Griffin and Brody Woodward, Somer, Gus, and Drew Woodward, Olivia and Hannah Woodward, and Frank and Will McInnes.

Dorothy was voracious reader and an enthusiastic sports fan. She was a member of a state championship basketball team in high school and was the best athlete in the family.. She was an avid walker and walked daily between 3 to 5 miles, often with her father who was in his nineties. She attended local sporting events, cheered for her children and grandchildren, and was an enthusiastic critic. She also directed many spirited conversations around the dinner table about politics, religion and life in general, serving as a great inspiration to the young members of her family.

The Woodward Family invites friends and loved ones to honor her wonderful life. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 21st at 9am at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St, Rockland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockland Public Library, 20 Belmont St, Rockland, MA 02370. Dorothy read and reviewed as many as five books per week. She experienced great solace and joy through her reading.
