Dorothy M. Dunham

8/11/1930 – 10/12/2025

Dorothy I. Dunham of Halifax passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Hanson on August 11, 1930, she was the only child of the late Howard and Harriet MacDonald. 

Dorothy was a longtime resident of Hanson before moving to Halifax over 20 years ago.

She married the love of her life, Bill Dunham, in 1970 after getting engaged in 1951 (she wanted to make sure that he was the one)!   Bill and Dorothy enjoyed 40 wonderful years together before Bill’s passing in 2010.  They also enjoyed many winters in Florida.

While Dorothy worked for many years in the insurance business her real passion was teaching dance and line dancing throughout the South Shore and beyond.  It wasn’t unusual for her to have a group in the mountains of New Hampshire doing line dancing.

Dorothy had many friends and valued the time she got to spend with each and every one of them over the years.  

 Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan Street, (Corner of Route 14 &58), Hanson.  Burial will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson.
