Dorothy J. McLaughlin Mateik

Mrs. Dorothy J. McLaughlin Mateik, 90, of Hanover died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at home after a brief illness. The daughter of the late George and Gertrude Reinhalter McLaughlin, she was born in Quincy on November 9, 1913. She was raised and educated in Quincy and lived there until 1980 when she moved to Hanover. Mrs. Mateik had worked as a Physical Therapist and later as a Waitress at the Neighborhood Club in Quincy. She was very active in the Quincy Emblem Club and had been a member since 1936. She was the Past President and Past State President of the Emblem Club. She had been the Publicity Chairperson of the Massachusetts Emblem Club for many years. She was an active member and past treasurer of the Hanover Golden Agers, a member of AARP and sewed lunch for the elderly. She enjoyed line dancing and spent many summers with her family on their boat at the Boston Harbor Marina. Wife of the late John H. Mateik, she is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Feeley of Quincy and Susan Shaw of Hanover, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Louise Flynn and the late Eleanor Moranetz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 9 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte 139 in Hanover. Internment in Hall Cemetery in Quincy. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in HANOVER on Monday from 2-6 PM.
