Dorothy Peterson

Dorothy (Allen) Peterson, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, at the age of 77, surrounded by her family. Born in Weymouth on July 27, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Doris (Thayer) Allen. 

Dorothy grew up in Hanover and was a longtime resident of both Weymouth and Pembroke. Dorothy established her skill in hairdressing at the Hanover Beauty Academy. She was a stylist and owner of “Center of Attraction” Hair Salon in Weymouth from 1989 to 2022. Dorothy’s playful and fun personality kept everyone entertained throughout her life. She and her late husband Carl hosted yearly Easter Egg Hunts for friends and family. Dorothy enjoyed participating in the Marshfield Fair where she won many awards for her talent in painting and gardening. She will be sorely missed.   

Dorothy was the wife of the late Carl Peterson.  She is the loving mother of Michael Faghan, Jennifer Janczurewicz and her husband John, Michael Peterson and his wife Maureen, Stephen Peterson, Charles Peterson and his wife Kimberly, Annette DiIorio and her husband Vincent, Rebecca Skinner and her husband John and the late Carl Peterson and his wife Susan. Dear sister of Barbara Hassett and the late Horace Allen III, Robert Allen, Lorna May Allen, Margaret Snyder, Fred Allen and Roberta Lynch. Dorothy leaves behind 19 loving grandchildren, Hannah, Kyla, Braeden, Isabella, Harrison, Carl, Cara, Alex, Aaron, Haley, Michael, Caroline, Mia, Matthew, Julia, Marissa, Dominic, John and Lillian. She leaves behind one great grandchild, Sorina.

A Graveside service will be held at 11AM, Friday, October 27th at Sagamore Cemetery, Sandwich Road, Sagamore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
