Ellen M. Hagerty

Ellen M. (Hickey) Hagerty, 77 of Bedford NH passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017. The daughter of the late Francis and Gertrude (Carrara) Hickey, she was born in Gardiner, ME on March 27, 1939. Ellen was raised and educated in Gardiner, ME.  She moved to Boston, where she attended the Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and then worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years.  Throughout life she loved, skiing, golfing, and gardening, but most of all, spending summers with her family and friends at the family cottage on Ezekial Pond and winters at their retirement home in The Villages, FL.  Ellen made lifelong friends wherever she lived, Maine, Massachusetts, Florida, and most recently, Bedford, NH.  She loved them all.

Ellen was the loving wife of the late John F. Hagerty, mother of Maureen Polimeno and her husband Jay of NH, Susan Troy and her husband Bill of Ashburnham, and Kerin O’Leary and her husband Jack of Pembroke. She was the sister of Thomas Hickey of ME and grandmother of Kathryn and Aimee Polimeno, Brian and Alison Troy and Matthew and Erin O’Leary.

Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in Hanover on Tuesday from 5-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Thecla Parish, 145 Washington St. Rte 53 in No. Pembroke. Ellen will be buried with her late husband at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
