Evelyn (Gannon) Barnes

Mrs. Evelyn "Dolly" (Gannon) Barnes, 86 of Pembroke died Saturday April 23, 2011. The daughter of the late George and Abby (Mulhane) Gannon, she was raised and educated in Dorchester moving to Pembroke in 1964. Mrs. Barnes had been employed as a Telephone Operator and later worked at Talbots in Hingham for 25 years, retiring in 2005. She was very active in her senior years with gardening, traveling and especially Jeep four wheeling, which she enjoyed doing for many years with her children and grandchildren. Wife of the late John Barnes, she is survived by 5 children, Paul Barnes of Hanson, Karen Sullivan of Hanover, Sandra Newton of Norwell, James Barnes of Hanson and John Barnes Jr. of Pembroke, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Robert Gannon of Littleton NH and the late Charles "Jim" Gannon. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Thecla Church, 145 Washington St., Rte 53 in No. Pembroke.
