
Frank Romano, 89, of Hanson died Monday, May 20, 2002 in the Blue Hill Alzheimer's Facility in Stoughton after a long illness. Son of the late Pasquale and Angelina Lupo Romano, he was born in Molfetta Italy on January 4, 1913. He was raised and educated in Quincy and lived in Braintree until moving to Hanson 27 years ago. Mr. Romano served in the Navy during WWII and was the recipient of a Commendation Ribbon for Heroism, he also received the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 8 Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars. He was formerly employed as a Welder and Fabricator at the former Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. He later taught Carpentry at the Southeastern Regional Technical High School in Easton. He was a member of the Hanson Senior Citizens. He is survived by his wife, Bernice L. Emery Romano, 2 sons, Frank Romano of Weymouth and Steven Romano of Plymouth, a step daughter, Bernice A. Wilbur of Raynham, 3 sisters, Nina Aufierro, Marian Desmond and Fannie Tantillo all of Quincy, 5 Grandchildren and 10 step Grandchildren. He was the Brother of the late Rose Grissom, the late Mary Fredette and the late Lena Samarelli. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 814 Indian Head Street, at the Corner of Rte 14 & 58 in Hanson on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:30 PM followed by a service in the Funeral Home at 5:30 PM. Interment will be Private.
