
Mr. George W. Burke, 73 of Plymouth formerly of Hull and Hanover died at home on Saturday, December 6, 2008. The son of the late William J. and Mary A. Page Burke, he was born in Boston on June 17, 1935. He was raised and educated in South Boston and was a graduate of Franklin Institute. Mr. Burke lived in Hanover for 28 and Hull for 16 years before moving to Plymouth a few months ago. He served in the Merchant Marines and Navy during Korea and was later employed as Assistant Superintendent for the MBTA Blue Line, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the DAV, American Legion, loved Irish and Country music, Disney World, the ocean, reading, sitting out on the porch in Hull, his Shelties and above all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Perry Burke, 3 sons, George W. Burke and his wife, Rosanna of Hull, Stephen M. Burke of Orlando FL and Timothy P. Burke and his wife Rossana of Barnet VT, 1 daughter, Joan E. Burke Falkowski of Plymouth, 1 sister, Maggie Weinbecker of FL, 13 grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter. He was the brother of the late Mary Zacher and William J. Burke Jr. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Due to floral restrictions at the National Cemetery, memorial donations may be made to the Cranberry Area Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth MA 02360.
