

Gerald was born on Feb. 3, 1933 in Medford, Wisconsin to August & Florence (Fruzen) Gorichs. He was raised on a farm, graduated from Medford High School and he joined the United States Navy at the age of 18. He served two years stationed at the Hingham Ammunition Depot and the next two years aboard the U.S.S. Columbus CA-74. After serving his country, he worked as an apprentice and then joined Sheet Metal Workers Local 17.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, metal crafting, gardening, fishing, watching Indy cars races and bull riding on television, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family hosting lobster and clambakes in the yard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Bates) of 71 years; two daughters, Robin Gordon and her husband, Robert (Bob) of Quincy, and Jodi Gris and her husband, Dale of Elk Horn, Iowa. Loving grandfather of Amy (Joshua) Symanski of Pembroke, Sara (William) Berberan of Braintree, Jennifer (Edward) DeWitt of Braintree, Jason and Emily Melanson and the late Christopher Melanson of Elk Horn, Iowa. He was a cherished great grandfather of 13. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 77 Rockland St., Hanover, MA 02339 from 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow.
