

James "Doug" Sargent, 77 of Hanover, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2023. Born on January 13, 1946 in Boston, he was the son of the late Donald and Doris (MacConnell) Sargent. After graduating from Quincy High School in 1963, Doug proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. In 1971, he married Maureen and they started their family in Hanover. Doug worked for many years as an HVAC Technician for Sheet Metal Workers Local 17.
Doug had a passion for skiing and a love for the outdoors that he also instilled in his children. He was hard working, dependable and will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor and charming smile. Most of all, Doug loved spending time with his family.
Doug was the beloved husband of Maureen Sargent. Devoted father of Daniel F. Sargent and his wife Maria Luisa Gay of Merrimack, NH and Carrie E. Sutton and her husband Luke of Austin, TX. Cherished grandfather of Danny and Nora Sargent and Charlotte Sutton. Dear brother of Heather Sargent and the late Donald Sargent and his wife Marcia and the late Peter Sargent and his wife Jeanne.
Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover, on Monday, August 14th from 4-7pm. A funeral home service will be held on Tuesday at 9am. Burial to follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
