James H. Hatfield

Born in Quincy, Jim was the son of the late James and Miriam (Hoffman) Hatfield and brother to the late Robert Hatfield.

Jim is survived by his son Dustin (Amanda), from his former spouse Donna, and four sons from his former spouse Diane: James, Brian (Lisa), David (JoAnne), and William (Elise). He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren — Jillian (Bobby), Matthew, Haley, Craig (Lauren), Paige, Christian, Ethan, Kimberly, and Madison — and the proud great-grandfather of Theo. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jim began his career as a store manager at Stop & Shop, but he truly made his mark as the owner of the Hat Rack in Quincy. The Hat Rack was more than a business to Jim — it was a gathering place where he delighted customers with activities, giveaways, and his infectious energy. He was known for organizing flag football games that he would film and narrate with his own play-by-play commentary, then replay for everyone to enjoy back at the Hat Rack. Jim was also an avid competitor in the Minuteman Dart League, where he shared many memorable nights alongside his sons, relatives, and friends.

Jim had a deep love of animals and welcomed many into his home over the years. He was a devoted sports fan and a lifelong supporter of the Miami Dolphins and his all-time favorite quarterback, Dan Marino.

Above all, Jim will be remembered for his boundless generosity and his great sense of humor — qualities that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Hanover. A funeral service will follow immediately at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Center Cemetery, 40 Oldham Street, Pembroke.
