James Patrick Keegan, 48, of Pembroke died peacefully on October 23, 2024 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim, as he liked to be called, was born on July 18, 1976 and was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. To know him was to love him.
Growing up in Pembroke, Jim spent many days on a sports field, but most times during his childhood you could find him at Hobomock Arena playing for Pembroke Youth Hockey.
He attended Pembroke schools as a child before transferring to Archbishop Williams High School, where he graduated in 1994. It is here where his passion for golf started. After high school he attended Northeastern for a year before spending the last two decades in the trades. First with the laborers union and then as a mechanic with Local 4, the elevators union. It was his determination and work ethic that had him still working in the weeks leading up to his death.
Jim’s most proud title, though, was Dad. His two children Christian and Alannah Keegan, both of Braintree were his everything and he cherished every minute with them. Whether it was their yearly ski trip, a Boston sporting event, a tee time with Christian or a shopping excursion with Alannah. Every summer he looked forward to the annual family vacation to West Yarmouth and the traditional rounds of mini golf at Pirates Cove.
In addition to his children and their mother, Katie O’Leary of Braintree, Jim is also survived by his parents Kathleen (Downey) Keegan and James Keegan of Pembroke. He was the brother of Katie Eakins and her husband Todd of Carver and the adored Uncle to his niece and nephew, Maddie and Max Eakins. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and his favorite Godmother Mazz DiCamillo.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Wednesday October 30, 2024 at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in Hanover from 4:00-7:00 PM.
