
James A. McKenna, 74, of Abington died Monday, July 22, 2002 in the Brockton Hospital after a short illness. Son of the late Eugene A. and Ellen Formey McKenna, he was born in Braintree on June 11, 1928. He was raised and educated in Rockland, where he lived until moving to Abington 12 years ago. Mr. McKenna was formerly employed as a Driver for the Brockton Enterprise. He was a former member of Local 653 of the Teamsters Union and a member of the Newspaper Guild. He served in the Army during WWII and served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War. Husband of the late Maureen R. Orcutt McKenna, he is survived by 2 daughters: Kathleen Kamppila of Hull arid Kelly Salmon of Abington, a step son, James F. Benton of Carver, 5 grandchildren, Matthew D. Benton, Mitchell J. Benton, Jessica Kamppila, Rachel Salmon, Dylan Salmon and he was the grandfather of the late Tracy Kamppila. Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 9 AM in Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. Visiting Hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 41-45 East Water Street in Rockland on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
