

James A. Purcell, 61 of Hanover, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2014. Born in New York, NY on May 6, 1952, he was the son of the late James F. and Marjorie (Herricht) Purcell. James was a retired Captain of the Hanover Fire Department, he had worked at the Emergency Management Department for the Town of Hanover and most recently for the Town of Holbrook as a Public Safety Dispatcher. He adored his dogs, boating, and Lake Winnipesaukee. James was the devoted husband of Dianne (Morgan) Purcell. Loving father of Sara E. Giovanangelo and her husband Anthony of Quincy, loving father of Lindsay Purcell of Boston and Derek Purcell of Hanover. Godfather to Evan Monte of ME. Also survived by close family members of the Giovanangelo family and the Monte family. James leaves his mother-in-law Elaine Morgan of Hanover and the late Leo J. Morgan, sister-in-law Annemarie O'Meara of MN, Uncle Ronald Murphy of NY, and Aunt Corrine Kennedy of Hanover. Visitation in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53 in HANOVER on Friday 3-7 PM, (There will be a Fire Department walk through 4 PM.) Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St. Rte. 139, Hanover on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery.
