
Janice Callahan, of Hanson passed away on March 18 at home with her family. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Helen Sayer Baker and was also predeceased by her brother, Frank Baker. Janice was born in Boston and grew up on Bodwell St. in Dorchester. She graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke H.S. and went on to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She would later graduate Summa Cum Laude from the nursing program at Massasoit Community College in 1984 and became a Register Nurse. Janice was a dedicated nurse who worked at the South Shore Medical Clinic, Plymouth County Hospital, St. Joseph's Manor in Brockton, the VNA and several private care assignments. She was very active in her parish, St. Joseph the Worker Church in Hanson and participated in the choir, sodality, and CCD program. She had a passion for vocal performance and was a member of the prestigious Sweet Adeline's " Island Grove Chorus. Janice was a resident of Hanson for over 40 years and devoted time to Meals on Wheels, Cub Scouts, Senior Medical Clinics and the Hanson Garden Club. Janice is survived by her loving husband, John Callahan. She was the beloved mother of Stephen Callahan of Pembroke, Donna Callahan Poth of Hanson and Christopher Callahan of Hanson. She cherished her 6 grandchildren: Kristin, Kyle, Kaden, Cullen, Caroline and Caleb. She is survived by her brother Bill Baker and his wife Marie of Everett, her sister Lorraine Grojean of Belmont, NH and her brother Stephen Baker of Sudbury. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St., at the corner of Rte 14 & 58 in Hanson on Wednesday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St., Rte 14 in Hanson. Interment in Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson.
