

Jean Watts Jones, age 88, passed away Thursday December 4th from Alzheimer’s Disease just a month shy of her 89th birthday. Jean was born January 17th 1937 in Winchester Ma. to the late Florence Mitchell Watts and Sargent Watts of Barnstable. Jean was the oldest of four children and is survived by all of her siblings, Joan, Jane and Sargent Jr.
Jean graduated from Barnstable High School the class of 1954 and married her high school sweetheart Richard Walton Jones in May of 1957. After many enjoyable decades of boating together on the North River and eastern shore, her loving husband passed suddenly in September of 1996.
Jean is survived by three of her four children, Diane V. Lange, her youngest, passed December of 2010 after a courageous struggle with breast cancer. Her surviving children, Debra Ryan Miller of Scituate, Richard W. Jones and his wife Laura of Pembroke and David S. Jones and his wife Jane of Kingston all stood by their mother during the long journey of her illness.
Jean is survived by her four grandchildren Nicole Colantonio, Evan Jones, Alexandra Jones, and Kendra Miller. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Charlotte and Nora Colantonio that Jean's debilitating disease deprived her of the opportunity to meet and enjoy.
Jean spent 43 wonderful years growing a family in Norwell and a long distinguished career at Buckley Associates in Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that those inclined make donations to favorite charities of your choice. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring.
