Jeffrey M. Saunders

Jeffrey M. Saunders, 63 of Scituate, passed away after a brief illness on April 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Quincy on April 17, 1957, the son of Forrest Saunders of Florida and the late Barbara (Erickson) Saunders.

Jeff is survived by his devoted wife, Karen A. (Ranahan) Saunders, his son Jeffrey T. Saunders and his partner Jillian, of Weymouth and daughter Katie (Saunders) Doyle and her husband Kevin, of Kingston.  Cherished Grampy of Samuel A. Saunders, Anna K. Saunders, Morgan R. Doyle and Finnegan J. Doyle.  Dear brother of Kelley McKenna and her husband James, Cindi Saunders, and Kerri Saunders,  all of Kingston.   He leaves behind lifelong friend, Doug Holmes, his mother-in-law, Margaret Ranahan, many in- laws, nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.

Jeff proudly served his country in the US Army. Jeff’s infectious smile and personality lit up any room. Some of Jeff’s favorite pastimes were golfing and sharing his interests with his grandchildren. Grampy loved teaching Sam and Finn about boating, fishing, and clamming and sharing with Anna and Morgan his love for animals, singing, and dancing.

He shined a light with us on all the finer things in life such as silver queen native corn, buttered grilled buns, and buried treasures. His famous stuffed quahog recipe was sacred and shared with a select few.  He recently gave the recipe to his son Jeffrey and daughter Katie.  He and his wife, Karen enjoyed many sunsets on the boat in Scituate Harbor but most importantly, Grampy cherished Sundays on the porch making memories surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered ~Always and Forever 143~

Visitation will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, Hanover, on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Route 139, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BIDMC Liver Research, 330 Brookline Avenue (OV), Boston, MA 02215.
