Jill Lorraine Hester

Jill Lorraine Hester of Brewster, MA, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2023, at the age of 68. She was the devoted partner of 42 years of Margaret “Peg” Collins; loving sister to Jim Hester of Plymouth, MA and his wife Liz; the late Marie Welsh of Lynn, MA; Janice O’Neil and her husband Walter of Lynn and Scott Grindrod and his wife Robin of Amesbury, MA. She was also the loving aunt to Jeanne (Welsh) Donahue and her husband, Justin, and their children Rex and Henry of Halifax, MA; James Hester of Marshfield, MA and his children Ella and Justin and Justin’s son Kai; Jason Hester and his wife Abbey of Hull, MA, and their son Jacob. Through Peg, she was also the devoted aunt to Debbie Finan of Malvern, PA; George DeDominic of Schwenksville, PA; Daniel DeDominic of Danielsville, PA; Michele Rainforth of York, ME; Lisa Buffington of Hanover, MA; John Kennedy of London, UK; Simone Rinaldi of Sandwich, MA; Todd Rinaldi of Big Lake, AL; Darcey Bryant of Sandwich, MA; and their spouses and children. She was born in Lynn on May 18, 1955, the daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha (Smart) Hester. She was raised in Lynn and was a 1973 graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Jill earned her Bachelor of Education from Boston State University and her Master of Organizational Management from Cambridge College, both in MA.

Jill enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family at the “Ponderosa” – the home she and Peg built and shared for 38 years. She took pride in her work, spending fourteen years as a case manager at Cardinal Cushing Centers in Hanover as well as a realtor on Cape Cod in later years. Jill “JillyBean” was an amazing cook, organizer and instigator of fun, she was always dressed to the nines and ready to dance and celebrate any event. Above all, Jill was hilarious, keeping everyone laughing and enjoying being together with her quick wit and warm personality. 

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, November 15th from 4pm-7pm at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. (Rt. 53), Hanover. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, at 392 Hanover St, Hanover, on Thursday, November 16th at 9am followed by burial at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, MA.
