John "Jack" T. Fitzgerald

John "Jack" T. Fitzgerald, Jr., 71 of Duxbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 14, 2022. Born in Boston on May 11, 1950, he was the son of Marie J. (Leary) Fitzgerald of Hingham and the late John T. Fitzgerald, Sr. Jack was educated in the Boston Public School system and went on to graduate from Fitchburg State College with a degree in architectural design. After working for and learning from several well-known architects, He opened his own business, Fitzgerald Design. He was known for creating his designs by hand despite the availability of computer assisted design programs. He viewed his craft as art, and he drew each plan as if he were designing his own home. In his free time, Jack enjoyed the outdoors with a passion, usually skiing in the winter, or on the water in the summer, mostly sailing or kayaking.

Jack loved his family and friends, and his greatest joy came from the times when they would all gather. He was known as the life of the party and as Jack’s mother would say, “he lights up the room when he walks in.” He will be most remembered for his kind heart and gentle soul.

Jack is survived by his life partner, Anita L. Carver of Duxbury. He was the stepfather of Bradford A. Carver and his wife Leslie of Duxbury and Mathew F. Carver and his wife Amy of Duxbury and step grandfather of Jonathan, Victoria, Bradford, and William. Jack is also survived by his siblings Karen Doucette and her husband Paul of Rockland, Janet Lewis and her life partner Lisa Colombo of East Falmouth and Franklin, William Fitzgerald and his wife Ellen of Weymouth, Kathleen Fitzgerald and her husband Paul Savoy of Arizona, Beth Fitzgerald and her wife Sandy Blackmon of Arkansas, and Michael Fitzgerald of Brighton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 28th at 10 AM at St Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Route 139, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr, Rockland, MA 02370.
