

On April 24, 2021, John Albert Peck, father of seven children, and a loving grandfather, passed away at the age of 81. John was born on October 11, 1939 in Attleboro, MA to Robert and Epheginia Peck. He was one of 6 children with three brothers, Robert, Teddy and Phillip and two sisters, Gloria and Elaine. He went to school in Attleboro before working full time in his own business farming. John served proudly in the US Coast Guard for 4 years. He married Margorie Ellen Peavey in Foxboro, MA on March 4, 1960. Together they had one daughter Margorie, and four sons, John, James, David and Matthew. John married his second wife, Gayle Nessralla, on January 26, 1975. He and Gayle raised two sons, Robert and Joseph. John later married Karen Ross. Karen’s death preceded John’s in December of 2014.
John never lost his roots as a farmer. He owned farmland and animals his entire life. He took tremendous pride in working hard and doing the best you can. John wrestled in the Greco Roman style at the highest level. He prided himself in his strength and would tell stories to his friends and family his entire life. His passion for real estate and negotiation led John to various businesses over his career. He worked with his family to help build and grow Cumberland Farms for over 30 years. In that time, he also owned and operated two businesses, Halifax Cranberry Products and The Country Club of Halifax. He took time time to receive a degree from Harvard University in 1985 in their Advanced Management Program.
John loved the Country Club of Halifax. Members would see him sitting in the corner of the restaurant for over 30 years. He was always pointing out what needed to be done and how it should be done all while enjoying a hot cup of black coffee. In his later years, John spent a tremendous amount of time with his church. He devoted a lot of time, energy and love to his congregation. Over the course of his entire life, John helped whenever he could, using his strengths to do so. He was instrumental in building many churches, athletic fields, and hosting charitable efforts at his businesses. He was immensely proud of what he was able to give.
John was preceded in death by his son John in April of 2002, his first wife Margorie in July of 2003, and his wife Karen in December of 2014. He is survived by his daughter and five sons, their children, his two step children, Joseph Staska and Laura McCann, and their respective children.
A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Apostle Church (Our Lady of the Lake) in Halifax on Tuesday May 4. Flowers may be sent to the church at 575 Monponsett St, Halifax, MA 02338 or donations can be made to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
