John Paul Ryan

John Paul Ryan of Norwell, formerly of Scituate, passed away on February 21, 2013 at the age of 82 with his family at his side. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Ruth Gillis Ryan, whom he married in 1958. He was the loving father of Paul Mark Ryan of Brookline, Cathleen Kalpin and her husband Mark of Scituate and Kevin Ryan and his wife Suzanne of Plymouth. Cherished grandfather of Christine and Matthew Kalpin and Colleen Ryan. Paul was the brother of Charles F. Ryan of Winthrop and the late Rita Howard. Paul graduated from Boston University in 1953, and later served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a long time employee of the former Wang Laboratories. Paul had many interests and talents. While he enjoyed fishing, boating, and the ocean, his love of family and friends was most important to him. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Helen Church, 383 Washington St., Rte 53 in Norwell at 11 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Burial will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Scituate. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 101 Columbian St., South Weymouth MA 02190.
