

John T. Ryan, Jr., 74, of West Dennis, formerly a longtime resident of Hanover, passed away at Cape Cod Hospital Wednesday October 25, 2017 with his family by his side. John was born in Brighton, son of John T. and Mary (McNamara) Ryan. He attended Northeastern University and Southern New Hampshire University, completing his Bachelor’s degree in May of 1987. John started his career with the M.D.C Police Department, retiring from the Mass. State Police as Sergeant in 1990. He was the founder and president of Olde Towne Fuel Heating Oil Company in Hanover, in operation from 1981 to 1999. John enjoyed winters in Punta Gorda, FL, his boat “Bumpy’s ride”, the ocean, a friendly game of cribbage, and mostly, spending time with his family. John is survived by his beloved wife Diane (Kenney) Ryan; three daughters: Kathleen Fabian and her husband Paul of Franklin, Christine Sherman and her husband Jarrod of Hanover, Colleen Ryan and her fiancé Jamie of Holyoke; a son John T. Ryan III of East Bridgewater; he was called “Bumpy” by his 6 grandchildren: Katie, Kelly, and Taylor Fabian, Mackenzie and Mattison Sherman, and Brooke Ryan; he also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church, 392 Hanover St., Hanover. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Sunday at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. Hanover, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
