
Mr. Joseph A. Scanlon, 77, of Pembroke died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a long illness. The son of the late George H. and Ethel Morton Scanlon, he was raised and educated in Roslindale and lived in South Weymouth before moving to Pembroke in 1982. Mr. Scanlon served in the Navy during WWII and was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal. He was a retired Real Estate Developer. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council of St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth and was a member of the 4th degree of the Cardinal Spellman General Assembly Knights of Columbus in Whitman. He was a former member of the Holy Name Society at St. Francis Church, a Licensed Real Estate Broker and a member of the Plymouth County Board of Realtors. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Manning Scanlon, 1 son, Stephen F. Scanlon of San Diego CA, 1 daughter, Sheryl A. Scanlon of Braintree, 1 grandson, Augustin Joseph Scanlon and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George T. Scanlon and the late Thomas F. Scanlon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 11 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan Street, Rte 14 in Hanson. Internment in the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan Street, at the corner of rte 14 & 58 in HANSON on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
