He was the loving father of James Gordon Miller and Mark Edward Miller. He is the son of the late John Gordon and Violet (Schmidt) Miller of Cambridge WI. He was a beloved brother in law to Kathleen Conroy of Avon MA and Peter Conroy and his family of Lakeville MA as well as a devoted son-in-law to the late Peter B and Mary (Greene) Conroy.
Kent was born in Chicago and spent most of his youth in the Midwest and California. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and in recent years, proudly wore the school livery advertising many NCAA championships in football and other sports. His greatest interest was in theater and history. He loved to teach and direct theater and acted everyday as a teacher. His goal was always to teach and to make people laugh. He had a considerable career in community and equity theater in California, Wisconsin and Massachusetts. His favorite role was at Christmas when he could don a red velvet suit and help out Santa Claus! He called it the greatest role he ever had.
He enjoyed reading history particularly about the civil war and Abraham Lincoln. Kent and Maryanne traveled extensively in the US, Caribbean and Europe. His favorite place was at home by the fire either in the living room or on the patio, sipping a nice red wine or a current favorite whisky.
