Born in Berkley, Massachusetts, Kyle was raised in Lakeville and graduated from Apponequet Regional High School in 2008. His curiosity about the world showed early: in the fourth grade, he was identified as a student in the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. He went on to earn a degree in International Studies from Louisiana State University in 2014, with semesters abroad at the University of Ghana in Accra and Al Akhawayn University in Morocco, and later attended the Conflict Resolution program at the University of Oregon School of Law.
Kyle was a gifted linguist, fluent in French and conversational in Arabic, German, and Spanish. He used those gifts to help others, teaching English to children in Vietnam and to adults at the American School in Boston. He also volunteered in disaster recovery with Team Rubicon, and most recently served on the Emergency Response team at Clean Harbors.
Those who knew Kyle will remember him as a kind soul: engaging, inspiring, and always up for an adventure. A natural athlete, he loved soccer, and some of his happiest moments were spent playing with his niece and nephews. He was a devoted Patriots fan, and Tom Brady was his hero. An avid reader, Kyle could be moved to tears by Tennyson, and Tolkien expanded his sense of wonder. He also loved a good laugh and admired the talents of Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and Trevor Noah.
In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by his beloved sister, Amanda Marston, her fiancé, Christopher Porter, and her children, Liam, Jack, and Elise, of Quincy; his older brother, Bret Kulakovich, his wife, and their children, Molly, Ada, and Jamie; and his devoted dachshund, Daisy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, MA 02339. Interment will follow immediately afterward at Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Faustman Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital in support of diabetes research.
