Leo J. Morgan

Leo J. Morgan, 79, of Hanover formerly of Dorchester Lower Mills, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 at his home in Hanover after a lengthily illness. The son of the late Joseph and Eileen Kenny Morgan, he was born in Boston on January 20, 1923. He was raised and educated in Dorchester and was a graduated of Boston College High School and a 1948 graduated of Boston College. Mr. Morgan served in the Army during WWII. He later was appointed as a Boston Police Patrolman, District 1 in November of 1951. He made Sergeant in November of 1969, Lieutenant in May of 1973 and retired in January of 1988 after 37 years of service. He worked part time for American Courier Corp in Boston for 7 years and later worked as a Federal Marshal at the Boston Court House from 1989 until 1996. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine E. Smith Morgan, his 2 devoted daughters, Annemarie Morgan-O'Mera of Minneapolis Minnesota and Dianne Purcell and her husband James of Hanover, a grandaughter, Sara Purcell, 2 step grandchildren, Derek and Lindsay Purcell, a sister, Eunice Morgan of Mashpee, a sister in law, Corrine Kennedy of Hanover, a niece, Carole Monte of Marston Mills, a nephew, Jay Morgan of Waltham and a great nephew, Evan Monte. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at 11 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte 139 in Hanover. Internment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in Hanover on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
