Marie Fitzgerald

Marie (Leary) Fitzgerald, 98 of Hingham, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to the late John T. Fitzgerald, Sr. and sister to the late William J. Leary of Boca Raton, Florida.

Marie was originally from Dorchester but summered and retired in North Falmouth before moving to Linden Ponds, Hingham in 2005.

Marie was a professional singer who entertained at the Top of the Hub and the Harvard Club in the 1960’s. She was an active member of different church choirs throughout the years as well as a core member of the Linden Ponds Repertory Company.

Marie was the devoted mother of 8 children, and her greatest joy came from summers on the Cape when the family would all gather. She is survived by her daughter Karen Doucette and her husband Paul of Rockland, Janet Lewis and her life partner Lisa Colombo of East Falmouth, William Fitzgerald and his wife Ellen of Weymouth, Kathleen Fitzgerald and her husband Paul Savoy of Arizona, Beth Fitzgerald and her wife Sandy Blackmon of Arkansas and Michael Fitzgerald of Boston. She was predeceased by her sons John Fitzgerald, Jr. (life partner to Anita Carver of Duxbury), and baby Paul Fitzgerald. Marie also had 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 nieces.

Visitation will be at Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover - 551 Washington St. Rte. 53 on Tuesday, August 8th from 8:30AM-9:30AM and a funeral mass will directly follow at Resurrection of the Lord Parish in Hingham - 1057 Main St. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury - 990 Lagrange St.
