Martin G Barrett

Born July 30, 1965, in Ireland to Bridie and Paddy Barrett, Martin lived life to the fullest. He made his home in three countries — Ireland, Australia, and America — and wherever he went, he left a lasting mark. To know him was to love him. He was a man of deep faith who loved Jesus, yet he was also full of fun, laughter, and warmth. Martin loved being around people, shared many good times with friends and family, and never turned down a nice pint of Guinness.

He touched countless lives around the world with his kindness, humor, and generous spirit. Those who knew him will remember his smile, his love of a good story, and the way he made everyone feel welcome.

Martin was the beloved husband of Amy (Stockbridge) for 23 years. He was a proud and devoted father to his three children: Patrick Ronan, 27; Robbie Brendan, 22; and his darling daughter Shannon Theresa, 20. They were the absolute light of his life.

He is also survived by his loving sisters: Rosemarie and her husband James, and their children Cormac, Ross, and Sophie of Dublin, Ireland; Patricia and her husband Kelvin, and their children Simon and Nathan of Melbourne, Australia Mary D. and her husband Leo, and their children Patrick, Robyn, Thomás, and Ellen of Galway, Ireland; Katherine and her children Tara and Pierce of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his brother Thomás; survived by his wife Karen and their children Aidan and Rachael of Holbrook, Massachusetts. Martin was deeply loved and adored by his in-laws, Robert and Judith Stockbridge of Weymouth. Sister-in-law Teri and her husband Brian of Weymouth, and her children Courtney and her husband Joe, Jonathan, and Justin and his wife Leeann (all of Florida); Brother-in-law Bobbie and his children Kalianna and Grace of Kingston; brother-in-law Sean and his wife Veronica, and their children Evelyn, Owen, and Hannah of Hanover.

A faithful man of God, Martin walked with the Lord through every season. His trust in Jesus remained steady, and he has now entered into the presence of the Savior he loved.

A wake will be held at Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Washington Street, Hanover, on Friday, August 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held the following morning on August 15th at 10:15 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels (St. Mary’s), Hanover. Burial will follow at Hanover Cemetery.
